Lifetime natives of historic Lowville and Lewis County, we could not be more thrilled to welcome you to the place we call home.

We purchased the 1812 House in 2013 and since have fallen in love with everything about the 1812 House — from hosting events to meeting our visitors and learning more about the history entrenched in our area, specifically at the 1812 House! Fun fact - the great-grandchild of the first woman to step off the Mayflower built this house.

History built the 1812 House, time deteriorated it, and Sheila and I brought it back to life.

After our retirement from the NYS Education System, our focus transitioned to people like you - those with a passionate interest in the charm of history. Whether your fascination leads you to hosting your next event with us, exploring the stories of Lewis County, or partaking in our one-of-a-kind events, expect to be welcomed into our home like it is your own.

At the 1812 House, it’s not if our walls could talk, it’s like they are actually talking to you, transporting you back centuries ago. Come experience the stories for yourself!

We look forward to your visit,

Chris & Sheila Buckingham

“This is our first time staying at a B&B. This 1812 house is absolutely beautiful and the hosts are friendly and accommodating. I would recommend this B&B to anyone if staying in the area for an amazing experience. Chris gave us many details about the home and it's history. He was truly enjoyable to listen to.”

“Chris was an EXCELLENT host. He provided us with the most wonderful meals for both my rehearsal dinner and bridal prep day. It was an absolutely beautiful location to get ready at the day of my wedding and the bedrooms were gorgeous!”
